Widescreen frelling rocks! Watching one of my favorite horror movies (I have bought it twice on VHS now) "In the Mouth of Madness" on my spanking new DVD! It's amazing how much widescreen adds to what the movie is.... ahhhhhhh.

Anyhoo I bought the first novel in the Eberron line titled "The City of Towers" (apparently a few days before it's supposed to be released on 2/1/05) written by setting designer Keith Baker. Already Keith is adding to the setting in some interesting ways. Such as you see what was going on in Cyre the day before the Mourning. Also I like the characters so far because they have all been interesting and flawed in their own way. Got the gears turning for an Eberron campaign.

If I ran a Eberron campaign I would attempt to set it exclusively within Sharn, as I have never run a campaign entirely in a city before, and the challenge sounds delicious. I think I would run it like how "Star Trek; Enterprise" is currently going, ergo little mini-epics that take a couple of sessions to finish. The goal is to make the mini-epics very different from each other... at least the ones that play back to back, while keeping with the essential themes of Eberron. Which is nice, because the setting is vast enough that you can do adventure, mystery, horror, and combinations-there-of with no problem.

As for rule changes, well I would use the Bard from "The Book of Eldritch Might" just because I can, along with the spells in there. Perhaps for some of the Dark Six spells I would pull them out of "Call of Cthulhu d20" so their spells are different and evil... get more mileage out of Wither, heh. I would borrow the Alliegence system out of d20 Modern, because I think that goes along better with Eberrons more variable alignment system. That way characters can have loyalty to people, places, nations, and philosphies, instead of just the latter. Maybe I would allow all the monster characters from "Savage Species."

Be seeing you.
