I found an interesting article on the web about crappy video game movies made by Uwe Boll. You might remember him as the director of such video-game-to-movie classics as "Alone in the Dark" and "House of the Dead." A quick note on those movies. "House of the Dead" had nothing at all to do with the video-game at all. The Video-game was a "Resident Evil" style romp with light guns. I have fond memories of blowing away Zombie with the Artiste in Vegas... we should have been drunk while doing it but oh well. In any event the game is set in a house/lab, where they are doing experiements, and fooling around with Things Man Was Not Meant to Know (AKA TMWNMTK). The movie is set on an island, where there was supposed to be a rave, and a little teny tiny lab, but mostly an island, with Matrix style violence. In essence it was a steaming pile of crap. "Alone in the Dark" again had nothing to do with the video-games, because the original games were 1920's Lovecraftian romp, of a detective fooling around with TMWNMTK. The movie was set in the modern day, with like government agents who fight TMWNMTK. In essence it was a steaming pile of crap. So now he is making a movie based on the game "Bloodrayne." The game "Bloodrayne" is set in World War II abouta half vampire who is just a Nazi carving machine. The Movie "Bloodrayne" is set in the 1700's, about a half vampire who fights other vampires back in the day. In essence, it is going to be a steaming pile of crap. Okay why are these movies crap, well for one Uwe Boll is not true to the source material. Which is weird because a great many of the current comic movies have showed us that if you stick to the source material and are true to it... even if you put all your X-Men in leather. There is a spirit of the comic characters. The makers of Doom seemed to grasp this idea, while the actual story of the movie was different, ergo the scientists in the movie didn't open a door to hell, the hell in the movie was more figurative. They were still true to the game... basically with a first person shooter sequence. However Uwe Boll doesn't keep to the spirits of the game at all. He takes the basic situations of the game, and makes a completely different movie out of them. Also these movies completely suck! "House of the Dead" flopped so bad I wondered how this guy could make another movie. Then "Alone in the Dark" flopped so bad I really wondered how this guy could make another movie. Then I found out that Uwe Boll isn't just making one more movie, namely "Bloodrayne," he is making FOUR new movies, not counting "Bloodrayne." Namely movies based on "Dungeon Siege," "Far Cry," "Hunter the Reckoning," and "Fear Effect." How can such a subpar filmmaker keep making stupid movies... through a loop hole in German tax law thats how! Which is what the above article is about. Basically in German law if you make a movie, and if flops, you can write the ENTIRE movie off as a loss. Not just the money you lost, the ENTIRE SUM of money off. So say you make a crappy video-game movie based on a really excelent game, such as "Blood... well "Alone... um... well "Far Cry" yes "Far Cry" was a really excelent game... anyhoo you make a movie based on that for say 20 Million. Then the movie is in essence a steaming pile of crap and only makes say 14 Million in ticket sales (I don't think DVD sales count in this tax figure). So you as an investor get 14 Million dollars back in your 20 million dollar investment, but you can also write off 20 million dollars as a loss on your taxes. So in reality you only lost 6 mil, but you get 20 million back in taxes! Brilliant! Which makes me think maybe Uwe Boll makes steaming piles of crap on purpose, and is just some shill of rich German people. It's sad really!

Chuck Cunningham syndrome, eh?
The reason why I don't comment is because I've heard of all this stuff from you already.
