It just occured to me after reading yesterdays post, why America is falling into this dark age of pseudo-science. Parents suck! I'm telling you, if you are a parent out there, I will bet you good money you suck pretty bad. Sure maybe not as bad as this parent. But you likely suck. And of all people to show me why we suck, it was Dr. Laura that turned me on to why parents suck (although I don't agree with her thought that it is the liberals and feminists... they are just a product of the society and not the root cause). Basically a lot of you out there are self absorbed idiots. You know those ads that appear on the TV where like Johnney Depp comes up and says "When I played a Pirate, what was my name? What was the name of the little boy who visited my chocolate factory? What is the name of your child?" Or whatever, you know why they are doing that? Because I will bet you dollars to donuts that a lot of you parents out there don't know crap about your kids. You parents are so concered with your own petty little lives that you don't know anything about your kids at all. So you sit them in front of the zombie box, and give them videogames and movies to pass their time because you don't take the time out of your day to interact with them. But ever so often one of you looks up to see what your little tyke is blowing up on the TV screen, and you find he is mowing over people on Grand Theft Auto, and you get outraged. But instead of getting mad at yourself for buying a videogame clearly marked "Mature Audiences Only." You get mad at the violence in videogames, what is it teaching America's youth? Guess what, if your kid is playing violent videogames, its the PARENTS FAULT! If you can't keep track of what your kids are doing, its your freaking fault! So the occasional parent gets outragged at everybody but themselves for what their kids are doing. So instead of being a parent, and teaching your own children the values you want them to have. You go out and try to change videogames, the television, and the public school system, to teach your kid your ideals. Which is a waste of money and time. Because for one your ideals and my ideals likely don't match up. And secondly children are a wonderful gift, if I ever have any I'm going to treat them as such. Why pay somebody else to raise your children, when you can do it yourself? Yes it's hard, yes it is time consuming, yes you are going to hate your life for a good amount of time. But here is the thing, if you do your job right as a parent, you get the best thing any parent can have, you get to be your kids good friend when they are an adult. You get to share in your kids lives in a very special intimate way, that I'm convinced half of America doesn't get to have. You get to be their when they graduate college, find their career, get married, etc. You get to have a very special relationship that you simply don't get very many of in your lifetime. Why would any of you want to piss that away for your own petty crap? I have seen mothers come into my store, who are there with their children and their kids nanny, and guess who the kids are closer to? THe nanny thats who, because that is who is raising them! It really makes me sick. THe funny thing is I see mothers come in with nanny's during nonbuisness hours. That means that there is a family there who is paying another person to mother the children, while the mother is in the house doing her own thing! That right there is why our society is going down the "crapper" parents. It's not because of sex on TV, condoms in schools, or anything else. It is because you are leaving your children up to their own devices, and then you get upset that they smoke, drink, have sex, and do drugs. When you don't teach your children any values, of course that is what is going to happen! And guess what, the fact that your children do things like that is YOUR FAULT parents. So please stop trying to take my violent videogames and science away from me. Stop for a moment, sit down your kids, and actually spend time with them and teach them the values you want them to have.
